Sjteyl is ut sjônste plaetske

Wie Steyl zegt, denkt gelijk aan kloosters, Missiemuseum, Jochum Hof en andere mooie bezienswaardigheden. Wat tevens onlosmakelijk met Steyl verbonden is, is ons eigen volkslied "Sjteyl is ut sjônste plaetske" . Maar waar komt dit lied nu vandaan en hoe oud is het eigenlijk?

Welnu, we hebben een artikel uit de Tegelse Courant met als datum 05-02-1949 weten te achterhalen. Daarin staat vermeld, dat dit lied 15 jaar eerder (dus in 1934) gemaakt is door Chris Janssen. In eerste instantie bedoelt als gedicht, maar later omgezet tot een heus lied. Zie onderstaand kranteartikel van De Tegelsche Courant van 5 febuari 1949:

Opgenomen in 2006 tijdens het 25 jarige Jubileum van de Joekskapel.

Opgenomen in 1983 tijdens het 50 jarige Jubileum.

Orkest: Nard Reijnders Consort
De opname heeft tijdens het jubileumconcert 125 jaar Vriendenkring op 15 november 2008 in de Haandert plaatsgevonden.
